Grape Ape lab report

What 202 state lab tests of Grape Ape flower show beyond a single THC number: the odds of a strong batch, how published figures hold up, which terpene leads test by test, which strains share its terpene mix and how it reaches the shelf.1

Key findings

  1. 36% of 202 lab tests reached 20% THC or more; 9.9% reached 25%.1
  2. 2 of the 3 single published THC figures sit above the median lab result.1
  3. β-caryophyllene was the most abundant terpene in 84% of tests; Leafly names myrcene as dominant.1,2
  4. Closest terpene mix among 17 strains: Pineapple Express (71% overlap), then Gelato (70%).1
  5. Ranks 24th of 29 strains by median THC (18.42%), with the 16th-narrowest spread of 24.1
  6. The highest-THC third of tests carried more terpenes than the lowest (2.36% vs 1.23% total).1
  7. Median THC barely moved between 2018 and 2023 (−0.73 points).1

How likely is Grape Ape to test above 20% THC?

36% of 202 state lab tests of Grape Ape flower reached 20% total THC or more, about 4 in 10. 9.9% reached 25% and 1.0% reached 30%.1

The odds depend on where the flower was tested: 56% of Washington tests reached 20% (55 tests), against 25% in Nevada (95).1 Each state has its own growers, labs and testing rules, so the gap describes markets as much as plants.

Do published THC figures for Grape Ape match the lab results?

2 of the 3 single published figures we checked sit above the median lab result for Grape Ape (18.42%).1 The highest figure, Royal Queen Seeds at up to 20%, was reached by 36% of tests.1,3

The 3 published ranges cover between 26% and 66% of tests, from 15–23% (Leafly, 2015 highlight) at the most to 18–21% (AllBud) at the fewest.1,4,5

None of these figures describes a particular jar; only the certificate of analysis for that batch does.

Which terpene leads Grape Ape, test by test?

β-caryophyllene was the most abundant terpene in 84% of the 99 tests that report individual terpenes, a consistent lead; α-pinene led in 15%.1

Leafly names myrcene as the dominant terpene.2 In the lab tests β-myrcene led in only 1.0%; β-caryophyllene led in 84%.1

95 of the 99 tests come from Nevada labs, so the shares describe mainly Nevada flower.1

Which strains have the most similar terpene mix to Grape Ape?

By the overlap of their typical terpene mix, the closest strains to Grape Ape are Pineapple Express (71%), Gelato (70%) and Blue Dream (68%); the least similar of the 17 strains compared is Durban Poison (38%).1

How it works: each strain's median level of eight terpenes is expressed as shares of their sum, and the overlap is the part of the mix two strains have in common (identical mixes score 100). Only strains with at least 30 tests reporting individual terpenes are compared. This compares lab chemistry only; it does not predict how a strain feels.

How strong is Grape Ape compared with other strains?

By median total THC, Grape Ape ranks 24th of the 29 strains in our lab dataset (18.42%), between Trainwreck (18.65%) and Hindu Kush (17.91%).1 By the share of tests at 25% or more (9.9%), it ranks 13th.1

The middle half of its tests spans 5.88 points (15.37%–21.25%), the 16th-narrowest spread of the 24 strains with at least 30 tests: about average consistency.1

Does higher-THC Grape Ape also have more terpenes?

Generally, yes. In the 107 tests that report both, the third with the most THC (19.76% or more) had a median of 2.36% total terpenes, against 1.23% for the third with the least (14.98% or less).1

The pattern holds in Nevada, the only state with at least 30 such tests.1 Total terpenes measure aroma compounds by weight; the comparison says nothing about effects.

In what forms, and under what names, does Grape Ape reach testing labs?

Of 354 lab results under exactly the name Grape Ape, 59% were flower; concentrates 27%, shake and trim 11% and pre-rolls 2.0%.1 Only flower enters the figures on this site.

Another 74 results carried a longer name that contains Grape Ape, 17% of all results with the name in them, led by “SVC Grape Ape Distillate” (13), “Grape Ape/Larry OG” (7) and “Everdrop-Liquid Diamonds-1.0g 510-Grape Ape” (4).1 Extra name words, cross markers and CBD versions mean these may not be the same plant, so they are excluded (how we match names).

How common and how pricey is Grape Ape on dispensary menus?

In our Weedmaps snapshot of 27 US markets (Oct 3, 2026), 114 store listings within 50 miles of each market's center carried Grape Ape flower, in 13 of the 27 markets: the 6th most of the 16 strains we track.8

Its median exact-eighth price was $25.00 in Los Angeles (typical other strain: $30.00) and $40.00 in New York (typical other strain: $33.90).8 That makes it cheaper than the typical strain in 1 of the 2 markets we could compare.

What this data cannot tell you

  • Lab-to-lab differences: needs at least 3 labs with 20 or more tests each.1
  • A particular jar: lab results describe flower sold under the name across 8 states from 2014 to 2024; only a batch’s own certificate of analysis describes that batch.1
  • Effects: these are chemistry measurements. None of them predicts how a strain will feel to a particular person.
